Trump Team Resorts to Bribery to Get Inauguration Talent

Rumors are flying that President-Elect Trump is having a really hard time finding talent to perform at his inauguration this coming January.

In an exclusive, The Wrap reported today the Trump Team has had so much trouble attracting A-list talent to perform for the inauguration festivities, it has resorted to offering some impressive bribes to any bookers who can supply top names for the gigs. Spoiler alert…it isn’t working!

Two separate bookers said the Presidential Inaugural Committee offered them cash or even plum diplomatic posts in exchange for guaranteeing quality performers.

The first insider said he was “shocked” at the proposal: “Never in a million years have I heard something so crazy,” he said. “That was the moment I almost dropped the phone.”

Trump’s team has struggled to find talent outside of the low-wattage stars who endorsed him during the campaign. A meeting between Trump and Kanye West spurred speculation Tuesday that the the troubled rapper might perform. On Wednesday, news broke that Trump’s team had managed to enlist 16-year-old former “America’s Got Talent” star Jackie Evancho.

In a statement to TheWrap, Trump’s team denied offering any ambassadorships. “There is no truth to this insinuation,” said committee spokesman Boris Epshteyn. “First-class entertainers are eager to participate in the inaugural events. The inauguration as a whole will be an exciting and uniting celebration of freedom and democracy. We will be releasing further details at the appropriate time.”

The second booker also claimed to have at least two colleagues who had received similar offers.
Although it is not uncommon in either party to offer major donors ambassadorships, it is unheard of to make the same types of offers to talent agents. In fact, typically even the performers are not compensated above their costs, because it is considered such a high honor to perform for the new president’s festivities.
Currently, Ted Nugent, Kid Rock, and possibly Garth Brooks are being discussed as possible performers. A couple of weeks ago, a campaign adviser floated the idea that Elton John would play. “Elton John is going to be doing our concert on the mall for the inauguration,” Scaramucci said, adding that his performance would show their “commitment to gay rights.” But that was quickly dismissed by John’s publicist. They are also having difficulty obtaining marching bands. No marching bands in D.C. have applied to play for this inauguration.

When asked why, the schools were mostly silent — or gave bologna excuses.

Ballou High School’s Majestic Marching Knights “decided to take a break in January” the school’s principal told NBC4. They performed Destiny’s Child’s “Lose My Breath” at former President George W. Bush’s second inaugural parade in 2005, and stepped along Pennsylvania Avenue as they played James Brown’s “I Got You (I Feel Good)” at President Obama’s second inaugural parade eight years later. Before anyone claims this is just the “elite liberal Hollywood” conspiracy, I looked up who played at George W. Bush’s first inauguration.
While the majority of the Inauguration was performed by choirs and military members, President George W. Bush held a star-studded Inauguration Concert, with artists ranging from Ricky Martin to Jessica Simpson to 98 Degrees (as requested by his daughter). (Mashable)
Needless to say, a lot of people are getting very upset, bless their hearts. Who knew the Dixie Chicks were such hipsters?
