The March on Washington was just too much for many high profile, pro-Trump preachers. While some dismissed the women protesters with the tired claim they were simply paid by George Soros, the Bakkers have a more colorful theory, because of course they do.
During their television show Wednesday, husband and wife Jim and Lori Bakker discussed the women who took part in the March on Washington again. They sensed via their connection with the Lord that these women were all “broken” and unhealthy.
“I looked at them,” he said. “I looked close, I looked at them, I looked them all over. They’re hurting. They’re broken. They’re beaten down. They’re not even healthy. So many of them weren’t healthy looking, even. They looked like they’ve been through a war, some of them.”
Lori, Jim’s wife and the co-host of the show, chimed in and took it a step farther. She suspects that the women must be survivors of childhood abuse to be anti-Trump.
“Most women like that have been molested, they’ve been abused, they’ve been whatever in their life. You just have to go back to, typically, early childhood and things like that. And they just need the healing of the lord.”
This deviates a bit from his theory of a week ago, when he made the case that people who protested Trump must be demon possessed. On his show with evangelist Billye Brim, Jim Bakker told the story of his encounter with “four rotten little girls” during the inauguration. The children were demonstrating at an anti-Trump rally outside the presidential inauguration, and Bakker asserted, “It was a possession, it’s the demons.”
“What’s happening is we’ve had leaders who have opened our country to demon powers,” he said. “They have worked for the dark side, the other side. We have millions of demon-possessed people in this country now.”
Of course his guest agreed with him; he urged viewers of the show to pray for confusion within the ranks of the demonstrators.
I know a lot of religious people, even quite a few who are intensely conservative and pro-Trump. I have to admit that accusing women of being demon possessed and having been abused as children just because they disagree with your political stance is a first for me. Perhaps it is an outgrowth of “Liberalism is a mental disorder”? The wackadoodle actually accused Democrats, specifically movie stars, of asking for a terrorist attack on Washington D.C. the day of the inauguration; he also claimed they wanted Trump assassinated. That makes no sense, because so many were right there protesting; but I don’t think Jim Bakker is all that concerned with logic.
Honestly he should just stick to selling his food buckets for all the gun-toting basement dwellers who are preparing for the end-times by building shelters and collecting ammo and bottled water. Write that man a check for $2800, and all your worries will disappear into the hands of the LORD I tell you! For thine is the kingdom and the power forever and ever AMEN, or something like that…amiright? Bless their freeze-dried hearts.
