This morning the entire country was (not) shocked to find out about another tragic event involving a young, African-American teenager and law enforcement officers. This time, it was in Columbus, Ohio. Responding to a call about a reported armed robbery, police attempted to question 13 year old Tyre King and two other boys when King and another took off on foot. There is no body cam footage, but the Columbus police are saying that King pulled a gun from his waistband and was shot, though they did not say at this time whether King pointed the gun at the police before he was shot to death.
It should be noted that the gun found was a BB gun with a laser sight. It should also be noted that Ohio is an open carry state and young boy, Tamir Rice, was accused of pointing his BB gun at Ohio police officers before he was gunned down a couple years ago. Video footage, however, proved Rice did not point his gun at the officers.
As sad and tragic as King’s death is, clearly he was never taught that under no circumstances should you ever point a gun at law enforcement.
It’s important enough to repeat. You simply cannot point a gun at an agent of the law and expect to walk away alive.
Seriously guys, you just can’t point a gun at LEOs and expect to not be shot dead, for realsies.
This is a matter of life and (your) death, guys! Don’t point guns at cops, or worse yet actually kill cops! You’ll totally end up in a body bag!
Really, I’m not kidding. If you point your gun at someone who has authority over you like cops do, you’re toast.
And whatever you do, don’t point your gun at cops and kids! Talk about a one-way ticket to the morgue!
Even if your gun is a BB gun, like Tyre and Tamir’s were, you cannot point it at cops. And you certainly cannot shoot it at them.
Seriously, BB guns are totally going to get you killed the same way as a real gun will. Every time.
Ladies! You’re not immune to this! If you point a gun at cops, you will be taken down!
No matter what, Americans, if you brandish a weapon — any weapon — toward a cop, you will be shot dead. It’s just how it works, every single time.
Concord police said a 22-year-old man was arrested and accused of firing a BB gun at officers. Click to watch News 9’s coverage. Jesse Deflorio faces one count of reckless conduct after he was accused of firing a BB gun in the direction of Concord police officers who were doing a routine traffic stop earlier this month.
And yes, that even goes for our beloved freedom cannons/assault rifles, too!
An armed Michigan man who got into a tense standoff with police last month had his rifle taken away, but authorities gave it back to him the very next day. Joseph Houseman, a 63-year-old “Open Carry” advocate, prompted multiple calls to 911 when he stood in front of a Kalamazoo Dairy Queen with a rifle and shouted at traffic and passersby.
Please, if you remember anything about this article, make it that no matter what the scenario, no matter what the context: You have a gun when you interact with cops, you will probably end up dead…
